I’m sorry my finger slipped when I was setting the date in the time machine.
Limping
I’m limping because last night I stood on some shards of broken dreams.
They are scattered on my bedroom floor along with my self-respect, bottles of girlfriend tears and lost hopes crumpled and stained.
Same
Blind rituals, archaic strictures and useless rules.
Work, religion, love, it’s all the same.
Judgment
Everything I’ve ever written could be titled “untitled”.
Every girl I’ve ever been with could be called “a shocking lapse in judgment”.
Puppy love
Puppy puppy puppy.
Love love love.
Burning
Did the burning houses convince you?
I really really really really love you.
Weekend
Tomorrow at work they’ll ask me what I did on the weekend and I’ll lie and say “you know, just had a bit of fun” or something like that.
The truth is that on the weekend I mocked a few religions, declared a meal “the worst I’ve eaten” though it wasn’t, slept alone, and relaxed my hands on the wheel in yet another reckless game so the car strayed just a little onto the gravel.
Publish
All the words over all the years piled up and rotted, becoming toxic.
When they were putrid enough, I published them.
Beads
Sometimes I imagine the planets as beads on a necklace.
I want to grasp it, push all the beads together and then snap the string.
Longing
Can you feel the eternal longing?
The eternal longing for chocolate biscuits!
Cure
Once they classified “breakup grief” as an actual illness, there soon was funding and benefit concerts and searching for a cure.
So far, choc-chip cookies, good friends and a 12-week course of pills is what they’ve come up with.
Results
As the dentist filled my teeth I saw the edge of a note in her pocket.
From my position I could only read “I’m afraid the results …”
Approaching at speed
You know, the end of my life is approaching at speed and so I really don’t have time to sit around with you.
I’m not saying see you later because that ain’t ever happening.
Marketing
I met a marketing girl today.
Hollow she was, and as deep as the dog’s water dish.
Joke
As a joke I took them to see the cat when they said “take us to your leader”.
The cat received them with good graces, had some kind of long talk with them and then they left rather quickly.
Protest
Scream and protest and struggle as much as you like but it won’t change the truth.
