Letting Go

She took the training wheels off of her daughter’s bicycle that morning, knowing she would have to give her a push later to get started and then let her child ride or fall, while she held her breath, watching.

“Wheeeeeee, Mom, this is fun!”

  1. Randy, S.flew like a bird when she had her first bike and I took the training wheels off. She was scared at first and I was holding my breath for real with my arms out in front of me ready to go catch her if she fell. But she took off and found her wings. It was a tiny bike but such a big feat. She glowed with pride and I breathed. It made my heart swell when I saw her accomplish that and that she was so happy about it.

  2. I really like this story. There are eternal lessons hidden in learning to ride a bicycle and this story hints at that secret. Great job Laurie.
