My last thought before stepping into oncoming traffic was relief that the insidious whispering would finally cease… Do not believe what is said about “the silence of the grave.”
My throat was cut, my hands and feet bound, I slowly sank into the river as the world became darkness, my thoughts lingering around the dark shapes who threw me in.
And here I lie, telling my story to all I pull down, again and again, forever and always, till my ropes are cut.
I said good night to my wife laying next to me. I rolled over and saw her standing in the doorway.
I wish you knew just how I feel, how you are the only thing on my mind all day, how much I love you, love the way you smell, the way you look when you sleep.
Some of these days I really should introduce myself to you.
Yesterday, my cellphone fell from my hand and into a drainage grate.
This morning, I found it besides me on my bed, all clean and functional with a single message typed on it that read “You’re welcome”.
I felt the warm long tongue on my neck, someone laughed. No one was there, the TV showed someone saying ‘’Lovely isn’t it?’’
I took my Knife out of the drawer to clean it. I found it broken and full of blood.
I was at home reading a book and suddenly delighted by my favorite sound, children laughing. Then I realized, I was home alone and I don’t have any children.
A little boy was going to go to sleep, when he saw a man standing at his bedroom door. He said “GO… TO… SLEEP!” and then the man crawled under his bed. The boy did not know which side of the bed this man was on. Boy boy fell asleep… When he woke up he saw the man hovering right over him. That was the last thing he saw.
She tried to scream, but there was no sound. I stood there grinning, with my around her neck.
Drinking my morning coffee, I see my cat climbing a tree outside.
As I look away, it rubs against my legs under the table again.
I gazed into the mirror and raised my right hand. The reflection smiled back and raised its right hand too.
…Later that day I received a message on my phone that said “You were the only one there, you know who killed me!” It was from my wife, she kept my phone number and charged my phone, after I passed away 6 months ago just to hear my voice on the Voice Mail.
When you grabbed my hand during a night swim I thought it was the happiest day of my life. Then I realized you were using both hands to tread water…
I’m the best hider in hide and seek. I was found only once, but never again.
A man says to his wife, “Honey, can you tell the kids to be quiet? I’m trying to read my paper.” The old woman turns to the wife and says, “He has unfinished business.”
I’m the best seeker in hide and seek. There was no one who hid from me that was ever found.
The woman sang a sad song. Her voice echoed through the old empty seats.
I learned at a young age that, if you aren’t afraid of them, the monsters in the closet and under your bed can be your friends.
Much later in life, I learned how to get them to do my bidding.
I usually take the long road from work back to my home at the edge of the village, but today, everybody looked down as I walked past. When I placed my key in the lock, I heard an emotionless voice from behind: “I’m sorry, but I have to do this.”
